Château-la-Grave-a-Pomerol Pomerol 2012
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pomerol|
Solid, with a packed core of raspberry and boysenberry pâte de fruit flavors, liberally studded with anise, cinnamon, black tea and graphite notes. The long finish has a well-integrated roasted apple wood accent. Best from 2017 through 2027. 1,583 cases made.
Bright red-ruby. Sexy, expressive nose offers perfumed black fruits and a touch of mocha torrefaction, complicated by bright minerality. Then sweet, pure and enticing in the mouth, with nicely delineated black fruit and candied violet flavors. The persistent finish displays chewy tannins and a savory quality.
Smooth, ripe and easy, this wine brings out the fruitiness of the vintage. It has some dusty tannins, although it is so approachable and generous. Ripe berry fruits and soft acidity come through at the end. Drink from 2017.
The elegant, light-weight 2012 La Grave a Pomerol exhibits notes of cherries, balsam wood and underbrush, medium body and little tannin. It is a pleasant, picnic-styled Pomerol to drink over the next 7-8 years.
