Van Volxem VV Riesling 2018
This bottling, which the estate characterizes as feinherb and which incorporates fruit from the Mosel proper, leads delightfully with lilac and apple blossom perfume. Soft but buoyant and satisfyingly juicy, the palate is dominated by fresh apple. Wafting inner-mouth perfume follows all the way through a soothingly lingering finish coolingly kissed by mint, fennel and wet stone.
The 2018 Riesling "VV" is super clear and aromatic on the nose, displaying aromas of ripe vineyard peaches. On the palate, this is a lush and piquant, mouth-filling fruity and sweetish Riesling with good vitality and lots of charm. The 2018 already drinks pretty well but will gain more complexity after a year or two. Tasted from AP #9 19 in June 2019.
