Editors' Choice. This stunning red was a favorite amidst a strong line up of North Fork Cabernet Franc. There's a purity of black cherry and plum flavors here, but also meandering veins of animal, earth and herb that feel a bit savage and wild. Crisply composed, it finishes with delicate whispers of anise and cinnamon. Ready to drink now but should improve through 2024.

The 2014 Cabernet Franc Reserve was aged for 19 months in French oak (almost all used). It comes in at 13.6% alcohol and was sourced from 21and 22-year-old vines. Light and easy, this doesn't show much in the way of mid-palate concentration, but it gets the Cab Franc grape just right, showing some of those typical green olive nuances, without going overboard into off-putting veggie territory. Add a touch of cream (from oak) that dissipates quickly, reasonable structure and a fresh, lively feel and this becomes a pleasing house pour. It can be drunk easily now, but it should also improve over the next six to 12 months.

Light-bodied, with tomato leaf and savory notes holding the upper hand over modest cherry and pomegranate flavors. Drink now. 736 cases made.
