Yalumba The Cigar 2013

SKU 04846

This wine is plum red in colour and medium to full depth in hue. The bouquet shows bright cherry, chocolate and musk fruit aromas supported by savoury cedar oak. The palate is vibrant with blueberries and rhubarb balanced by choc-mint with the tannins having mouth-filling praline texture. The finish is long and lingering. Enjoy with barbecued lamb loin chops.

Wine EnthusiastMenzies is the name of Yalumba's Coonawarra estate, which is almost entirely devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Like most of the Yalumba wines, the oak levels have been pared back in recent vintages, allowing this wine's cassis fruit to to shine. Hints of tobacco, bay leaf and sage bring complexity, while the tannins are fine, adding a softly dusty feel to the long finish.

Wine AdvocateDeep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Menzies The Cigar has pronounced crème de cassis, chocolate box and mint with suggestions of cedar chest and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is rich, concentrated and muscular with a solid foundation of grainy tannins and very lively acidity with a lovely freshness in the long, vibrant finish.
