100% Sangiovese Grosso grown in galestro soils at an altitude of 400m. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel; malolactic fermentation follows in oak. The wine ages for three years in large Slavonian oak casks. The particularly cool and windy vineyards yield a racy and vibrant Brunello that is loaded with ripe fruit and great depth.

Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows a dark and masculine side that distinguishes it from its peers. Black fruit aromas of plum and dried blackberry take center stage. Layers of spice, tobacco and autumn leaf fill in the rear. It's the ripeness of fruit that makes the wine feel and taste bigger. That fruit intensity does not come from over extraction or excessive oak use. This wine is well managed and feels relatively free of too much winery intervention. Overall, it shows good balance and it faithfully reflects the warm vintage.
