Known for taking the road less traveled, Michael David Winery has always stood apart from the crowd. Whether it be their outlandish brands and packaging or their quirky personalities, Michael and David are denitely on a stage of their own and this wine showcases just that. The fruit for this brute of a Cab comes from the original "super freak," Michael Phillips' vineyard located only a medicine balls toss away from the winery.

Wine EnthusiastThis wine is a bold but well-mannered blockbuster that serves generous helpings of dark color, spicy aromas, concentrated flavors and a luxurious dry texture. It needs full-flavored, rich food to accompany it, and will deliver a lot of pleasure under those circumstances. Best to drink now through 2020. Editor's Choice.

Wine AdvocateA real winner is the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Freak Show. The label is amazing, as is the quantity produced - 150,000 cases. This is a heck of a value. A dense, rich, full-bodied, meaty, almost Mediterranean style of wine that is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, possesses loads of black and red currants, notes of roasted Provençal herbs, licorice and loamy soil undertones in a dense, full-bodied, supple and silky style. It is meant for immediate consumption, but should age easily and hold onto its fruit for another several years at minimum.
